About the Journal

Welcome to Sustainability Education Review (SuER). SuER is an  peer-reviewed scholarly journal dedicated to advancing research, theory, policy, and practice at the intersection of education and sustainability.

SuER positions education as its primary disciplinary domain and sustainability as its central analytical and societal concern. The journal recognizes sustainability as a multidimensional challenge encompassing environmental, social, economic, cultural, technological, ethical, civic, and institutional dimensions. It provides an international platform for researchers, educators, practitioners, policymakers, and other scholars to exchange knowledge, develop new perspectives, and contribute to educational transformation for sustainable futures.

SuER publishes high-quality original research articles, review articles, conceptual and theoretical papers, and policy analyses addressing issues such as education for sustainable development, sustainability competencies, transformative learning, curriculum and pedagogy, social justice and inclusion, climate and environmental education, green skills and vocational education, sustainable work and livelihoods, citizenship and peace education, Indigenous and local knowledge, cultural sustainability, artificial intelligence and digital sustainability, teacher education, educational leadership and governance, whole-institution approaches, community learning, and lifelong education.

The journal particularly welcomes studies that contribute to broader scholarly debates and provide theoretical, empirical, methodological, or policy insights that extend beyond their immediate local or institutional context.

SuER does not publish manuscripts in which education is absent or merely incidental. Studies primarily concerned with engineering, environmental science, economics, technology development, political science, sociology, anthropology, culture, health, agriculture, business, or other disciplines may only be considered when they contain a substantive and explicit educational dimension and clearly contribute to the understanding of education for sustainable futures.

Similarly, manuscripts on general education are not considered within scope merely because they mention sustainability, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), climate change, environmental issues, or related terminology. Sustainability must be meaningfully integrated into the research problem, theoretical or conceptual framework, methodology, analysis, findings, or implications.

Through rigorous peer review and the publication of internationally relevant scholarship, SuER seeks to strengthen knowledge on how education can contribute to sustainable, just, inclusive, resilient, peaceful, and responsible societies.

Sustainability Education Review (SuER) operates as a Diamond Open Access journal, with no submission fees, Article Processing Charges (APCs), or publication fees for authors.
